India’s Anti-trust investigation found that, Amazon & Flipkart violated Local competition laws and giving priorities to some sellers, with a huge discounting, into theirs websites, hurting local retailers.
Here are the key findings of investigation by CCI, (Competition Commission of India).
- PREFERRED SELLERS : Amazon has six preferred sellers, while flipkart has 33 .who got Preferential treatment on their platforms in breach of Anti-trust laws. Sellers received marketing, warehousing in minimal costs. CCI reports, Amazon & flipkart both used their ‘foreign investments’ to provide such subsidies, for bulk and huge online selling. There was an ecosystem in both Amazon & flipkart, that no other than preferred seller, none of any other sellers can survive into their online selling platform.
PREFERENTIAL LISTING : The CCI also investigate that majority marks of products appearing st the top of both Amazon & flipkart listings into the online site from other sellers, that’s a barrier into the site.

EXCLUSIVE PRODUCTS LAUNCHING : Both Amazon & flipkart has partnership with India based smartphones giant companies and other technology gadgets companies, to launch their products. CCI also said ” Exclusive Lauchehes of devices not only affected to ordinary sellers to the platform, but also brick-and-mortar Retailers, who were provided the mobile devices in much later date from launching date”.
DEEP DISCOUNTING : Both Amazon & flipkart enabled their preferred sellers to provide heavy discount , which much below cost for the purpose of driving out competition.
