An unprecedented air pollution level hits in Pakistan’s 2nd Largest city of Lahore, prompted authority of Pakistan government to take emergency measures on Sunday, the 3rd November.Issuing orders to close schools & institutions should close immediately, and citizens must stay at home.
This city held the top most spot on real-time list of World’s most polluted city on Sunday, after recording it’s highest ever pollution.The data released by IQ Air, a Swiss based pollution control group, controlled by provincial governments of Pakistan.
The Pakistan government has shutdown schools, and other institutions and asks the parents and citizens to wear musks in face by 24 hours. Schools and all institutions remain closed next after a week. The minister of punjab province, Mrs.Marrium Aurangzeb of Pakistan government told in a press conference that, a thick blanket of smog enveloped the city.
Citizens of the city urges to stay indoors, wearing a musk 24 hours, shutdown door & windows, avoiding unnecessary travels. Hospitals are alerts for any emergencies.
To reduce more pollution by vehicles, less than 50% of vehicles are permitted to operate. Two, three wheelers are restricted to operate. Construction sites, factories should stop their work, or halt their work sites.
The situation is “unexpected” and deterioration of air quality by winds carrying more pollution and crackers smoke, by recently festivals in neighbouring country India, Marium Aurangzeb added.
She also added, ” this problem can’t sort out and solved without talking with neighbouring India. Representing provincial governments, only should talk to Pakistan government, to talk through foreign ministry, and every time, every year same problem happens. We want a permanent solution.”
The smog crisis in Lahore, and similar situation happens in Indian capital city Delhi, tends worsen during cooler months, due to temperature inversions trapping pollution closer to the ground, causes a big air pollution.
