Manipur Again, in violent protests, 23 Arrested.

The Northeastern Indian state, Manipur violent again when police arrested 23 people, this Sunday, ransacking and setting fire to the homes of Lawmakers and Ministers, while hundreds demonstrated against recent violent killing in defiance of a curfews.

This violence, marking second day of unrest in the Area has led a tense in Imphal, the state capital.

” The situation is serious and unpredictable “- said a police official.

Last Year from May,2023 inter-comunal clashes inbetween two communities, meitei and kuki, have resulted at least 250 numbers of deaths, and displaced over 60,000 of peoples, bound to live in camps in the region.

As a result, the state Manipur divided into two ethnic enclaves; one is meitei controlled velley, and one another kuki- dominated hills. Seperated by a No-man’s Land monitored by federal forces.

Tensions escalates last week when a 31 years old young woman from kuki tribes community, Burned Alive. Kuki community blamed Meitei militants, to burn it.

Citing the total law & administration failure by state’s  C.M. Mr.N.Biren Singh, to resolve the critical condition, the National People’s Party(NPP), an ally of BJP led Biren Singh’s Government, the 7 MLA members of Members state Assembly, announced this Sunday to withdrawal it’s Support from the state government.

23 peoples arrested following Saturday’s violence for ransacking and arson several minister’s home. Police resorted tear gas to dispersed mob. Eight persons were injured.

An indefinite curfew was imposed from yesterday. Internet & mobile services were suspended when after protesters tried to storm the residences of ministers including C.M. house.

Protesters demanded accountability for deadly violence , that has the latest incident occurred , claimed the lives of the atleast two women and two children were dead. The body of a woman , and a two year old child, missing from meitei family,were found dead from a river, while other three bodies including two children were recovered. Identification is ongoing,but the bodies are likely to linked with the missing family members. Said a Jiribam administration official.

A kuki man’s body also found from the area on Sunday. Cause of death likely to be link to the violence.

Manipur, the northeastern state, sat on communal fire from last one year, from May last, and political observations says, Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, perhaps have a least of interests shown according the on-going violence, throughout the Year, as he didn’t visit till date Manipur.
