Netflix will Add new disclaimers to an Indian Series of Aeroplane Hijack after social media outrage and government critics on what they said about Muslims hijackers being shown hindu.
The series called ‘IC-814, The Kandahar hijack’ a fictionalised version about 1999 Indian Airlines Hijacking from Kathmandu to Kandahar, which story Flimised by Netflix, on last week. Immediately in social media criticized that, the portryal of hijackers as hindus with hindu names, when they we’re Muslims.
Netflix official soon summoned ministry of Indian information & broadcasting and informed the streaming platforms soon updated disclaimer, where there no comments by ministry.
‘For benefit of audience, unfamiliar with 1999 hijacking of Indian aeroplane IC-814, the opening disclaimers would updated again to real and code names of hijackers”- vice president, Netflix for India, Monica Shergil informed.
‘ #Boycott Netflix India’, trends a week in X, the twitter, social media platforms by some users, ‘specifically a group of users, as well as members of Narendra modi”s hindu nationalists bhartiya janata party criticized “-” Where they misled the audience, into thinking that hijackers were shown into the series, we’re hindu”.
Amit malvia, who led BJP’s social media, told repoter, Netflix legitimate and shown in series, hijackers were hindus, and misled people.
India blames pakistan and Pakistan based militants group, for 1999 Plane hijack. Which was resolved after New Delhi, freed three militants from Indian jail castody, including masood azahar- which was the story behind the Hijack, and was Flimised in the series.
Netflix as well as other streamers of the series, such as Amazon Prime Video & Others also, who are streamed the series, declined the criticism .
