Israeal’s Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, on Monday rejected the accusations that Israeal’s Troops deliberately targeted UNIFIL peacekeepers in Lebanon, ” It’s a Completely false”, he said, and repeated a call of withdrawal of UNIFIL from combat region of Lebanon.
” Military did it’s utmost to avoiding UNIFIL base camps & peacekeepers personal, while striking Hezbollah’s, But the best way to assure the safety of UNIFIL personal is for UNIFIL to heed Israeal’s request and temporarily get Out of harms way “- Netanyahu told.
Later, UNiFIL’s spokespersonal posted a video messages on X platform – ” We are staying, We are in South Lebanon, under security council mandate, So it’s important to keep an international presence, and important to keep the UN flag keep up in these areas “….
” Some delibarate attacks are here, against our troops….. Some injured. And the parties have obligations to protect peacekeepers, and ensure the safety and security to UN Security personal, coming here internationally “…..
Israeal Defence Force (IDF) tanks forcibly entered a South Lebanon UN base camp, early on Sunday morning, with UN peacekeepers at same location also ” suffering effects ” from smokes after several rounds were fired in it’s vicinity, the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon ( UNIFIL) has reported.
Sunday’s developments in UN base camp come amid tensions in the regions, where five peacekeepers having injured. A peacekeeper , who was gunfired, by Israeli military activity, bullets were removed successfully.
Any delibarate attack on peacekeepers of UN, and breaching and entering a UN position are grave violations of International Law, and UN Security Council resolution 1701 of 2006.
NATO and United Nations are in a tension, about escalation of conflicts in middle-east and this region, where Israeal denies Security Council’s urges. While UN warns of escalating tensions on Lebanon-Israeal “Blueline” frontier.
